Katrina - The First Year
It's hard to believe that it was exactly one year ago - as I fell asleep that Sunday night with that final ominous image in my mind from a remote camera somewhere in New Orleans, shaking from the opening salvos of Katrina's winds and rain, showing the Superdome bathed in a ghostly light as the power was still intact and terrified for the thousands of residents who sought shelter there, hoping the structure would at least survive the following morning.
Little did I know then the hell those thousands would face in the ensuing days as well as all of New Orleans and the agonizing and ghastly struggle of her people to simply survive.
